Want to be able to practice completely quietly with headphones? Then it may be worth considering a silent or digital piano. This is especially interesting if, for example, you want to practice late at night or live in an apartment, and don't want to disturb the neighbors.
Remember that most acoustic buffet pianos have a study pedal (sourdine), which also allows you to mute the sound to practice at a quieter volume. So it is not always necessary to invest extra in a silent system.

A digital piano is an electronic instrument that mimics the sound and playing feel of an acoustic piano as closely as possible. Digital pianos feature a weighted keyboard with 88 keys that are touch-sensitive. The sound is produced by digital samples that sound through built-in speakers.
You can read more about the origins of the digital piano in this blog post.
A digital piano cannot be compared to a keyboard. Read what the differences are here.
You can find all digital pianos here. -
A silent piano is an acoustic piano where you can practice completely in silence through headphones. When the silent system is activated, a built-in stop rail prevents the hammers from hitting the strings. Through optical sensors, the movements of keys and/or hammers are measured and converted into a digital sound.
All silent pianos can be found here.

If you purchase a digital piano at Pianos Maene, you can enjoy the Maene Acoustic Bonus. This entitles you to a 5% discount on the later purchase of an acoustic piano. The bonus is valid from 1 year and maximum 5 years after the purchase, and can be used for both new and second-hand instruments.
In our blog you can read in which cases a digital piano is a good solution. But in all other cases, of course, we recommend an acoustic piano. If you choose for a digital piano first, we try to give an extra financial advantage with the Maene Acoustic Bonus, which makes the switch to an acoustic piano a lot easier. -

Each piano is given a serial number when it is manufactured. This is usually centrally located on the cast iron frame, but sometimes it is elsewhere, or is a little harder to find. From the serial number, we can determine the year of manufacture of your instrument. If the instrument does not have a serial number, we can usually estimate the age based on technical characteristics or furniture design.

Acoustic pianos often weigh more than 250kg. So a delivery via stairs is avoided as much as possible. In most cases, an acoustic piano is delivered using an external crane along the window.
Lighter digital pianos can often be delivered via stairs. For heavier models, the same method is used as for acoustic pianos.
To get the right advice regarding a floor delivery, the piano consultant will ask you to send measurements and any photos in advance.
-
-
For delivery of a grand piano, the legs and pedal piece are disassembled in advance. The piano cabinet, legs and pedal piece are then brought in separately. Finally, the grand piano is reassembled and placed in the desired location in your home.

Maintenance and repairs
-
We recommend tuning an acoustic piano about once or twice a year. With intensive use and in an environment with large fluctuations in temperature and humidity, it may be necessary to tune the piano more often. Tuning your piano regularly is positive for its longevity and long-term stability. For advice or to schedule a tuning, please visit this page.
A digital piano is an electronic instrument and therefore does not require tuning.

Using the Digital piano repair form, we will be happy to give you the right advice on whether or not to repair your instrument.
Unlike acoustic pianos, digital pianos have a shorter lifespan. Moreover, the technology of digital pianos is developing very quickly. For older digital pianos, it is not always worthwhile to incur excessive costs and it is often more interesting to replace your instrument with a new digital piano.
-
The ideal temperature for an acoustic piano is between 16°C and 24°C. If the temperature is too high or too low for an extended period, the piano may detune slightly faster.
To best maintain the life of the piano, it is recommended to keep the relative humidity between 40% and 60% in the room where the piano is located. In case of extreme values, an external humidifier can be used if necessary.
-
Floor heating has little or no impact on a modern piano. However, you may be able to monitor the average temperature and humidity, if the instrument is not in a standard living space.
-
You can clean the piano's cabinet via a micro-fiber cloth. For instruments in high-gloss polyester finish, you can use Maene Premium Pianopolish. This product was specially developed by Pianos Maene and can be safely used on your instrument.
To clean the keyboard, you can use a slightly damp cloth. Do not let water run down the sides of the keys and dry them immediately afterwards.
